Terry and Karen
Bikes Gone By
Honda 50

I woke up on Christmas morning to a whopping 49cc mini bike.  It is amazing
how fast a 49cc would go!!!

Yes, it was in the house along with my brothers Kawasaki 100.  We had them
running in the living room that very morning.   Later that day, I was riding up
and down the street and not having a helmet to wear, I had to wear a football
helmet. The picture shows me wearing my brother’s helmet. The blue jean
jacket, pants and the boots were new as well.

I spent many days after school running from the law. (Tom Sawyer Park Ranger)
1999 Honda 1100 Shadow Spirit

I rode this bike from 2000 to 2002. This was the first bike Karen and I rode
in the Smokey Mountains.  I liked the Spirit.   It was a nice one up bike.   When
I bought this used bike it had after market pipes and it was loud so I put stock
pipes back on it.
1988 Honda GL1500 Gold Wing

This bike was not mine. It was George’s (my father-in-law), and when he lived
here in Kentucky, he would let me ride it, occasionally.

When George moved to Florida, he left it at our house so I rode it more often
and that is when I knew I wanted a Gold Wing.  I liked the radio, cruise
control, backrest and the power.  I would ride the GL1500 instead of my own
1100 Shadow Spirit.

Thanks to George’s GL1500, I now own a 2003 GL1800 Gold Wing.
2003 Honda GL1800 Gold Wing

This picture is of Karen and I at Buckhorn State Park in Hazard Ky.  After five
years of riding, we have put nearly 60,000 miles on it.

I still remember June 16th, 2003, when I rode away from the Honda dealer on
my new bike.  Actually, this was the only new bike or vehicle that I had ever
owned. The Gold Wing has taken Karen and I through many states, visiting
many rallies and Honda hoots. We have ridden and camped with the friends
that we have made with Chapter A, Louisville Ky.

1975 Honda GL1000 Gold Wing

Picture of Karen sitting on her Dad's bike.  This was the first Gold Wing.
It had a Vetter fairing and Vetter saddle bags.
1973 BMW R50

This picture of my father, George, and myself was taken on Daytona Beach.
This is the trip where we passed another couple on a Harley.  The passenger on
the Harley dropped her top and flashed us as they passed .  I reached around
and covered my dad's eyes.  In retrospect it was highly unlikely he was looking
at the road anyway!  But we've laughed about it to this day.
2001 Suzuki Savage 650

This is my first bike.  On my 40th birthday I got a 2001 Suzuki Savage 650 from
my husband and my father.

I completed the MSF class in Ocotober of 2001 and have been riding my own
bike now for six years.
